The song:
Vaukalak originated in 2020, but its release was delayed due to the revolution in Belarus, protesting against violence and the difficult experiences faced by its creators, Vladimir and Nadezhda. After enduring two years in Belarusian prison, they ultimately found freedom in immigration, transforming their story into music that resonates deeply with their journey.
The song reflects on difficult moral choices, heavy consequences, and the pursuit of a clear conscience. Inspired by the Belarusian pagan myth of the Vaukalak (Werevolf), a creature forced to balance on the line between humanity and savagery, its lyrics take on a hauntingly prophetic tone.
The video depicts love and sacrifice that exceed the boundaries of life. This story, though tragic, captures a love so deep that even death cannot break it — a love driven by devotion that endures into eternity.
Despite the all hardships, Vladimir and Nadezhda have completed this powerful anthem, a symbol of their resilience and unbreakable spirit in the new reality. With their return, Irdorath brings forth a distinctive and unconventional style that resonates deeply with their essence, enriched by the mythical dark pagan aesthetics of Belarusian culture.
